Cosplay village
The Cosplay Village is the heart of the cosplay community during Malmö Game Week. Throughout the weekend you’ll be able to explore workshops, photo opportunities, cosplay exhibitions, community meetups and much more.

A galaxy far, far away… has landed at Malmö Game Week! Meet iconic Star Wars characters, snap an unforgettable photo, and test your aim in our Blast a Trooper challenge. A fun experience for Jedi, Sith, and fans of all ages.

FAQ
Eligibility
- By entering the competition, you agree to follow all event and competition rules.
- Participants must register before the registration deadline.
- Contestants under 18 may require permission from a parent or guardian, depending on local regulations.
- Each participant may only compete once per category unless otherwise announced.
Costume Requirements
- Costumes must be appropriate for a public, family-friendly event.
- Purchased costumes are allowed unless a category specifically requires handmade craftsmanship.
- The more craftsmanship you have completed yourself, the more points you may receive in craftsmanship judging.
- If your costume includes commissioned or purchased parts, please be honest during judging.
Weapons & Props
- All props must comply with the event’s prop policy.
- No functioning weapons are permitted.
- Props must not pose a safety risk to yourself, other contestants, judges, or the audience.
- Large props may be limited if they cannot safely fit on the stage or backstage.
- Pyrotechnics, open flames, smoke effects, fireworks, lasers, or hazardous materials are strictly prohibited.
- Liquids, glitter, confetti, or anything that leaves a mess on stage are not allowed.
Judging
- Arrive at your scheduled judging time. This will be informed to you by e-mail when the date is closer to the event.
- Be prepared to explain how your costume was made.
- You may bring a maximum of 1 assistant to help you during the judging but the assistant is not allowed to speak for you, the competitor regarding your costume (unless stated otherwise eg. people with special needs etc.).
- Judges’ decisions are final.
- Poor sportsmanship toward judges, staff, or other contestants may result in disqualification.
Stage Rules
- Be backstage and ready when called.
- Listen to stage staff at all times.
- Stay within the designated performance area.
- Respect the time limit for your performance (performance meaning the walk-on/ your time on stage).
- Do not intentionally jump off the stage or enter the audience.
- Do not throw props, objects, or items into the audience.
- No dangerous stunts, fighting, or choreography that could cause injury.
- Avoid blocking stage exits or emergency routes.
- If your performance includes sound or music, it must be submitted before the deadline in the required format.
- Performances should remain suitable for audiences of all ages.
Backstage Rules
- Keep backstage areas clean and organized.
- Respect other contestants’ costumes, props, and personal space.
- Do not touch another contestant’s costume or props without permission.
- Follow instructions from event staff and stage crew.
- Food and drinks should be kept away from costumes whenever possible.
- Keep noise to a minimum while others are preparing or waiting to perform.
- Be ready when your name is called. Contestants who are not present may forfeit their stage time.
Behaviour & Sportsmanship
- Treat fellow contestants, judges, volunteers, and staff with kindness and respect.
- Harassment, discrimination, bullying, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in point deductions or disqualification.
- Celebrate everyone’s hard work, regardless of experience level.
Safety
- Safety always takes priority over performance.
- Event staff may ask participants to modify or remove unsafe costume elements.
- Any costume or prop deemed unsafe may be prohibited from the competition.
- In the event of an emergency, contestants must immediately follow staff instructions.

- Cosplay Is Not Consent: All participants, volunteers, judges, and attendees must respect personal boundaries. Always ask permission before touching someone, their costume, props, or taking close-up photographs.
